What is the Pupil Premium?
The Pupil Premium is a government funding initiative designed to support disadvantaged pupils and close the attainment gap between them and their peers. This additional funding is allocated to schools based on the number of pupils who are eligible for free school meals, have been eligible at any point in the last six years, are in care, or have parents in the armed forces.
How much is the Pupil Premium worth?
For the 2023-24 academic year, the amount of funding each eligible pupil receives is as follows:
Pupil Premium: £1,455 per pupil for primary-aged children
Pupil Premium Plus: £2,530 per pupil for children who are looked after or have left care
Service Premium: £340 per pupil for children with parents in the armed forces
How is the Pupil Premium used?
At our school, we use the Pupil Premium to provide targeted support and resources to help our disadvantaged pupils succeed. This includes:
- Professional Development: Investing in training for our staff to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
- Implementing evidence-based interventions to support literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development.
- Offering subsidised extra-curricular activities and educational trips to broaden pupils' experiences and aspirations.
- Providing a wide range of pastoral support to ensure that families are well equipped to support their children in engaging fully with learning and wider school life
- Supporting the emotional and social development of all pupils
Impact of the Pupil Premium
We closely monitor the progress of our Pupil Premium pupils to ensure that the funding is making a real difference. Our goal is to provide every child with the opportunities and support they need to achieve their full potential.
